Connect to the SHDTU03 Bridge/Router via IP and web browser. The factory
default IP address is 192.168.0.1, username and password both root.

Explanation:
MCSV is the manufacturer's custom software version

When manufactured, this modem's original software version was 1.42. This will never change in the modem.
 
Software Version is the current version that is installed in the modem. This is what you always want to refer to when you are looking for the version of the modem.

The current installed software version of this modem is 1.53

The Firmware Version is actually the DSP firmware version of in the modem. This may or may not change when updating firmware, depending on the hardware. The DSP firmware version is the driver for the DSL chipset, provided by Conexant (formerly known as Globespan). Anywsay, this is not the Software Version, so don't refer this version to us if contacting us about your modem.

Important:
There are three distinct hardware versions of these modems and the software is NOT compatible. In the software version starting 3.xx, the modems are RoHS compliant and have an Samsung ARM9 microprocessor. Non-RoHS modems have a Samsung ARM7 microprocessor. The software is different between these two hardware models.
VERY IMPORTANT: If the MCSV version is 1.XX or 2.XX, then these are non-RoHS models and under no circumstances can the version 3.XX firmware be used.

Version 1.XX and 2.XX differ in their Ethernet chips. Version 1.XX does not have any VLAN function built in the Ethernet chip, while 2.XX supports VLAN in the Ethernet chip.

For non-RoHS, ARM7 modems, the final software version is either 1.53 or 2.04
The current version (as of November 2006) for RoHS version modems is 3.01

If you see a "G" in the serial number of the modem and the RoHS symbol on the label, it can upgrade to 3.01 from 3.00. Otherwise, the version should be either 1.53 or 2.04 as the final version for these non-RoHS products. The MSCV is checked during any upgrade and 3.0X is not allowed to be placed on the 2.0X modems.
